Here at Premier we wish to make your process of moving into your new home as easy as possible.

Here are some tips from us to make things easier for you:

Two Months before you move:

  • Give Notice to the Landlord or agent (If necessary)
  • Research your new area (Doctors, Dentists etc.)
  • Notify your landline/broadband provider about your change of address
  • Start decluttering
  • Collect boxes for when the time comes to move

 

One Month before you move:

  • Organize your moving van and assistance
  • Tell HMRC about your change of address
  • Register to vote at your new address
  • Look into transferring your current home insurance
  • Arrange post to be re-directed with royal Mail
  • Start cleaning a packing up your outside areas (shed / garden / Garage)

 

Two Weeks before you move:

  • Pack all non-essential items up that you wont need over the next 2 weeks
  • Use up all your frozen food
  • Arrange childcare or pet care
  • Register to the GP in your new area
  • Contact DVLA to change your address on your driving license
  • Look into booking a storage unit (If necessary)

 

One week before you move:

  • Confirm time and date of your move with your chosen moving company
  • Finish packing up in order of how essential they are
  • Organize a final walkthrough and inspection with your landlord (If necessary)
  • Dismantle any fitted wall items (Pictures, shelves etc.)
  • Repair any damage done to your old property
  • Redirect your TV license to your new house

 

Three days before you move:

  • Make a list of contact of the contact names and numbers of people and services you will need in the first few days after you move
  • Contact your utility companies at least 48 hours before moving
  • Organize the time of collection of your new keys
  • Disconnect appliances you are taking with you
  • Throw away left over food
  • Empty and defrost your fridge/freezer

 

The day you move:

  • Check through your old home to ensure you have not left anything
  • Clean your old home
  • Ensure all doors and windows are locked
  • Make a note of all meter readings
  • Take photos of the empty rooms as proof of their condition
  • Return the keys of your old house to the relevant party
  • Set up all major appliances as soon as possible (fridge etc)
